Scallop Carpaccio

Scallop Carpaccio

In Lima it’s sunny and quite warm today. Most people left the city to spend the weekend at the beach.

As we have not quite finished our installation yet, we decided to stay  and unpack the last remaining boxes.

So to get at least a bit of summer feeling, I found these gorgeous fresh scallops at the market and tried to prepare them in an easy, light way.

You need:

-6 fresh, top quality scallops

-1 ½ spoonful  extra virgin olive oil

-The Juice of  1 Lime

-1 spoonful very finely chopped chives

-½ spoonful finely chopped yellow or red chili(deveined)
-4 spoonful sour cream
-Salt
Preparation:
Cut each scallop vertically in 3 to 4 pieces (according to the size of the scallops)

Put a bit of lime juice, olive oil, chili and Chives on each piece.

Season with salt and serve with sour cream.

Serves 4-5

Enjoy!

Finally - A Relaxed Sunday Brunch in Lima!

Finally - A Relaxed Sunday Brunch in Lima!

Fresh mango and berries, delicious  Andean cheese , black olive mousse  and other delightful local products

The last boxes are unpacked, paintings hanging on their place ( hit myself on the thumb with a hammer as usual! :) ), phone and internet are working and now it’s time to enjoy Peru.
We made a stop over at the Barranco area, a charming place with old summer houses from the 19th century, a beautiful  sea view  and a bohemian flair.
It’s a place where many young artists have settled down, full of small restaurants and bars and a colorful, tropical vegetation.

A kind of “Buena Vista Social Club” making music in Barranco

The old church” La Eremita”, unfortunately with a roof that is falling apart and some vultures living on top, but maintaining its vivid, bright colors.  A bit decadent,  but still charming.

Beautiful entrance to one of the old houses

Hidden treasure: a small café that serves delicious, organic only products.
